Case No. 20261103 · 03.11.2026
Bitcoin fell 2% in a day and slipped under the gamma flip, and the whale that reversed twice lost again while the exchange force-closed part of its longyet the other whales aren't adding to shorts, they're cutting them.

📅YESTERDAY
The daily expiry 02.11 settled at 08:00 UTC: bitcoin at $77,957, ether at $2,279. By the levels fixed a day before the expiry, both coins stayed inside the market-maker corridor (bitcoin $76,000–79,000, ether $2,180–2,300). Max pain in bitcoin ($78,000) matched: the settlement came 0.1% lower; in ether ($2,240) it did not: the settlement was 1.7% higher. Case No. 1229, which rested on this expiry, is not yet closed in our whale registry.
Of the positions yesterday's radar put on its watch list: the price never touched the whale's short line — the whale closed that short itself; the ether longs under the price survived the day's low without forced closes — one account cut its long by almost half, the other exited fully; and at 17:35 UTC bitcoin spot dropped under the whole-book gamma flip and now sits below it.
⚡THE GIST
• Since yesterday's morning snapshot bitcoin is down 2.0%, ether 1.8%. Between the snapshots (05:53 UTC yesterday and 05:35 today) bitcoin on the Hyperliquid perp travelled a range of 2.4% against 1.6% the day before, ether 3.0%. Bitcoin spot sits under the gamma flip — in the zone where market-makers' hedging amplifies a move instead of dampening it.
• The whale we've tracked since 26.10 changed direction twice over the day: yesterday at midday it closed its bitcoin and ether shorts, a minute later opened a bitcoin long, the price went down, and in the evening the exchange force-closed part of that long in two steps; the rest the whale closed itself, and overnight it opened a bitcoin short again. By the trades available to us, that is the only forced close in bitcoin and ether among big accounts over the day; for five addresses the exchange returns trades incompletely.
• The other big shorts mostly trimmed: the account from our investigation cut its bitcoin short by 60% (a net reduction), in profit, and two more accounts cut their bitcoin shorts almost to zero. On the constant set of addresses (132 addresses in both 05:16 UTC snapshots) bitcoin shorts shrank by 206 BTC and longs by 53: the tilt moved toward long by about $11.7M; in ether shorts shrank by 11,611 ETH and longs by 2,990: about $19.4M toward long. The biggest short house added in bitcoin and cut its ether short.
• Fuel within 2% lies under the price again. In bitcoin under it sit $19.9M of longs across three positions, and above it one short position, that of the whale we track; yesterday it was the other way round: $31.9M of shorts above the price across four positions and $0.1M of longs under it. In ether one long position sits under the price and nothing above it; yesterday two positions worth $23.2M stood under the price.
• Verdict — continuation ⟳. The move goes toward the whales' short, which by the registry is three times the long in bitcoin and twice in ether, but with no push behind it: over the day shorts are being cut faster than longs. The funds in ether side with the whales (an outflow of $482.8M over the week, 8th percentile); the crowd on Bybit stands opposite (68.8% of bitcoin accounts long); options, futures and stress are silent.

⚖️VERDICT OF THE DAY
continuation ⟳ — the move down goes toward the whales' short: by the registry it is three times the long in bitcoin and twice in ether, and price is down 2.0% over the day within a 2.4% range. But there is no push: on the constant set the day's shift is toward long in both coins, because shorts are being cut faster than longs. The witnesses: the funds in ether side with the whales (no fresh data for bitcoin); the crowd stands against; options, futures and stress are silent.
What this does NOT mean. Shorts being cut after a 2% move is not a signal of a reversal upward: by the registry the short stays three times the long. Fuel under the price is about how far a move can carry for the same push, not about a fall being more likely.

📅PUBLIC LEDGER
(computed by code at the settlement price)
The market-maker corridor. Across 480 expiries since February the market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry held the settlement price 394 times — 82%; both expiries of 02.11 the registry has already recorded — both inside the corridor. Decision: we lean on the corridor knowing that roughly one expiry in five it doesn't hold.
Max pain. A match with the settlement (deviation under 1%) in 179 of those same 480 expiries, 37%; on 02.11 it matched in bitcoin, in ether it did not (the settlement 1.7% higher). Decision: we don't chase max pain.
The walls. The call wall held the settlement in 82 of 162 expiries where price reached it — 51%; the put wall in 50 of 119, 42%. Decision: we don't publish a wall without an expiry and a contract count, nor its percentage without a base.
Whale structures. The registry: 945 closed cases (5 of them from Bybit); across the 936 with a score, −$16.52M in total for the whales, as yesterday: cases with the 02.11 expiry the registry hasn't resolved yet. 137 open against 131 yesterday. Decision: win rate isn't money, and we don't copy whale structures — we track where they stand.
Polygon. Pendulum +$5,413 since 11.05 with +$83 on the day — both numbers from one series, the live curve of the best of four versions. Decision: we publish the tally daily with the same denominator and with the version's name, on a losing day too.
📏Scale calibrator
• What protection costs. Our fear-and-greed index — 45 out of 100 against 37 yesterday. We compute it from the price of volatility and the option skew on Deribit, not from news, which is why it diverges from the well-known index.
• Cheap or expensive for this market itself. BTC two-day vol — 70th percentile of the hourly history since February, ten-day — 49th, 24 days out — 44th: the nearest insurance is dearer than average, but further along the curve it stays in the middle of its usual range.
• Which way protection tilts. BTC skew +4.3: puts dearer than calls, almost as yesterday (+4.2). Terms: indiciadesk.com/en/glossary/
