Saturday's 2.9% drop in ether inside half an hour forced out leveraged longs, the day's account among themthe whales' positioning hasn't moved: in bitcoin the short is still three times the long.

📅YESTERDAY
Saturday's expiry settled at 08:00 UTC: BTC$81,593, ETH$2,432. The max pain fixed a day before expiry — $82,000 and $2,420 — matched both settlements this time: the settlement came off it by 0.5%, below in bitcoin, above in ether — within the band the ledger counts as a match. The market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry — $80,000–84,000 and $2,340–2,500 — held both.
The case registry didn't change over the day: no new cases, none resolved; the closed tally stands at 884.
⚡THE GIST
• Since yesterday's morning snapshot bitcoin is up 0.2% and ether down 0.5% — but between the snapshots came half an hour of selling: on Saturday at 21:15–21:45 UTC ether on the Hyperliquid perp fell 2.9% and bitcoin 1.1%; by morning both had been bought back.
• Ether: at that low two leveraged longs were closed by force — among them the long of the day's account, the same one that lifted the whales' long share on Thursday. The short opened on Friday at that day's low closed in the black in those same minutes.
• Bitcoin: the whales' long share across the registry is 23.7% against 24.7% yesterday; the short is 3.2 times the long against 3.0. The day's account hasn't touched its bitcoin long — and its liquidation line is now the nearest to the market from below.
• The rest of the whales we also saw yesterday shifted toward long in bitcoin by only about $6M; across all addresses — about $20M toward short: two new shorts appeared in the registry. In ether, across all addresses, about $34M toward long — shorts were being closed.
• The funds: no fresh figures since 09.10 — the data source is down.
• Verdict — continuation ⟳: the whales stand short, in bitcoin three times the long; Saturday's drop forced out leveraged longs and left the whales' positioning where it was.
• 📊 Our Polygon — Pendulum: the best of four versions, −$538 on the day, +$7,497 in total since 11.05.
• 📊 Our Polygon — signals: best — Dust Strategy V2 +$77,219 at a 4% win rate · worst — Wheel Trail V8 −$10,812. Table at the bottom.
🐋WHALES: WHAT CHANGED — three arenas
Arena one — Hyperliquid futures. We measure the day's change in coins between the 04:16 UTC snapshots — on the constant set and on all addresses of both snapshots (how we track whale positions). In BTC on the constant set — 129 addresses — the longs added 45BTC and the shorts shrank by 30BTC: the short tilt narrowed by about $6M; between the 04:46 snapshots — almost no change. Across all addresses it's the opposite, about $20M toward short: the difference comes from two shorts that weren't in the registry yesterday, one of them opened at midnight. In ETH the longs on the constant set shrank by 7,491 ETH; on Saturday evening about 7,400 ETH of longs at two addresses were closed by force, but one of them re-entered a long overnight. The shorts shrank by 8,843 ETH: the tilt moved about $3M toward long. Across all addresses — about $34M toward long: the short opened on Friday at the low left the registry — it closed. Across the registry — among positions with a liquidation price — the totals at the 04:16 UTC snapshot: BTC long $232.1M against a short of $746.4M, ETH$287.8M against $637.9M. The whales' long share in ETH is 31.1% against 31.0% yesterday — unchanged. Overleveraged whales number 58 against 69 yesterday, $905M of positions together against $974M; the longs among them are 58%, as yesterday. Among the top whales there were three forced closures over the day — two ether longs at Saturday's low and a bitcoin short at the morning high at 03:47 UTC; yesterday there were none.
Arena two — Deribit options. The block tape is quiet at the weekend: over Saturday and Sunday morning 4 structures were recognised in bitcoin and 5 in ether — against 72 and 30 in yesterday's window, which included Friday. Today's Sunday expiry is small; the next heavy one is Friday 23.10. No large new positions appeared in bitcoin over the weekend: the largest in the window is yesterday's structure of the day, which gains on a moderate fall and turns loss-making in a crash. In ether — protection against a fall, paid for with a sold ceiling. Quiet accumulation outside the blocks over the week (what a block is) is unchanged in shape: in bitcoin calls above the market top the list, with puts near the market below them; in ether calls above the market top the list, with puts under the market below them.
Arena three — money at the exchange border. The snapshot is fresh — up to 06:22 UTC today. Over seven days $63.5M was brought into the exchange and $47.7M taken out: $15.8M more arrived than left, against $21.3M yesterday. The net inflow came from USDC cash — twice as much in as out — and from ZEC, about $10–11M each. Bitcoin: about $10M more left than arrived.
This is positioning, not a direction forecast.
🧭CROSS-CHECK — five camps of witnesses
What the funds are doing. Spot ETFs are the only camp that measures purchases of the coin itself, not a leveraged position. There are no fresh figures: the SoSoValue data source hasn't answered since 09.10, the latest are for Thursday 08.10 — and the funds don't trade at the weekend anyway. This camp is silent: no data.
What the options market says. This camp measures one thing: what insurance costs on the Deribit book. BTCskew is +2.9 against +2.4 yesterday — puts dearer than calls, and the tilt steepens for a second day running (what skew is). In ETH+2.7 against +2.0. ETH two-day vol after the drop sits in the 37th percentile since February against the 7th yesterday; in BTC — the 21st against the 10th (what implied vol is). Our fear-and-greed index stands at 60 out of 100 against 67 yesterday — still in the greed zone, but lower. This confirms the whales: protection against a fall is getting dearer, and near-term insurance in ether moved over the day from among the cheapest to the middle of the range.
What the futures say. This camp measures who pays whom to hold a position. BTC funding on Hyperliquid is +0.003% in eight-hour terms against +0.008% yesterday; on Binance +0.009% against +0.010% (what funding is). In ETH+0.007% and +0.005% against near zero and +0.002%. This camp is silent: funding sits near zero on both sides — the drop didn't flip who pays whom.
What the crowd is doing. This camp measures how retail accounts stand against the whales. On Bybit perps 62.9% of BTC accounts stand long against 63.2% yesterday, and in ETH72.0% against 71.9%. This camp is silent: the crowd didn't move over the day while the whales' long share slipped a little — the gap is steady.
Any signs of stress. This camp measures whether anyone has already been forced out of the market. On OKX swaps $544k was liquidated over the day, 98% of it longs, against $169k yesterday; that is 8% of the week's liquidations. Among the top Hyperliquid whales — three forced closures against none yesterday. This confirms the whales: it was mostly leveraged longs that were forced out — the side the whales stand against; the third closure was a bitcoin short on the morning bounce; there was no cascade on other exchanges.
Again: this is positioning, not a direction forecast.
🌡ALTSEASON — the classic and our barometer
The classic altseason index is 50.0 out of 100 on a list of 202 alts against 48.6 on a list of 249 yesterday — the lists differ, so the comparison is rough. This is the transition zone: altseason starts at 75, bitcoin season sits below 25.
Our barometer watches money, not prices: open interest, funding and retail come from Bybit perps, the whales from the Hyperliquid registry. Alts' share of open interest is 40.3% — $4.55B of $11.30B, against 41.6% yesterday.
Alt contracts with funding hotter than bitcoin's on Bybit make up 35.3% of open interest against 43.4% yesterday — hot alt funding shrinks for a second day.
Retail in the top-10 coins stands 73.7% long against 73.5% yesterday.
Whales in alts are structurally short: 27.9% long across $1.17B of positions, the largest of them HYPE. That gap itself is permanent, the signal is in its CHANGE — over the day the whales' long share rose by 1.2 points.

⚖️VERDICT OF THE DAY
continuation ⟳ — the whales stand short, in bitcoin 3.2 times the long; Saturday's drop forced out leveraged ether longs, while the largest ether shorts closed part of their position over the day. The witnesses: the funds have no data; options and stress confirm the whales; futures and the crowd are silent.
What this does NOT mean. It isn't a forecast of a fall: over the week more money again came into the exchange border than left, and in bitcoin there are now twice as many short liquidation lines within 5% above the market as yesterday. The forced closure of two longs is the story of their leverage, not of the market's direction.
🔒In today's full RADAR:
• which whales went through a forced closure on Saturday, what it cost them and who took the gain in those same minutes;
• where the liquidation lines of the two accounts standing nearest to the market now sit — one below it, one above.

🔒WHALES IN DETAIL 💠
Portraits from the Hyperliquid registry, snapshot 06:16 UTC; the day's change is measured between the 04:16 snapshots, in coins; the moves of individual addresses come from the trade records. Nicknames aren't treated as identification.
The day's account — ether closed by force. Yesterday at 21:35 and 21:38 UTC the address itself closed 886ETH of its long, and at 21:38 the exchange closed the rest, 4,008 ETH, by force at $2,355–2,358 — −$418k of realised loss on ether together. Its ether liquidation line at the morning snapshot was $2,378. The bitcoin long it hasn't touched: BTC LONG 1,356 BTC ($110.8M) at 40× from $81,914, uPnL −$278k, liquidation at $80,037 — 1.9% under the market. Account value $3.6M against $3.5M yesterday. The ether short from Friday's low — closed in the black. At 21:36–21:40 UTC, in those same minutes, the address bought back 12,500 ETH of short — the 12,000 from Friday plus 500 added on Saturday afternoon — at $2,363–2,387 — +$398k. This morning the account is empty; the address is no longer in the registry. The 25× ether long — closed by force in full. The address that had part of its long closed by force on the night of 15 October lost the whole position that way at 21:32, 21:37 and 21:38 UTC — 3,400 ETH at $2,357–2,379, −$197k. From 21:53 UTC it was entering a long again: this morning 1,455 ETH from $2,390, liquidation at $2,378 — 1.3% under the market. The short on the edge — flipped on the drop and lost part of it on the bounce. During Saturday the 40× short had already closed yesterday's short and gone long; then at 21:25 UTC, at the start of the selling, it closed a long of 86BTC (−$14k) and opened a short of 261BTC at $80,890–81,360. Today at 03:47 UTC, at the morning high of $82,043, 52BTC of it were closed by force — −$46k. This morning SHORT 209BTC from $81,168, liquidation at $82,288 — 0.8% above the market. The 40× short from yesterday's registry — out. Today at 01:39–01:42 UTC the address bought back 133BTC of short at $81,662–81,878, −$39k; it now holds a small long, 20BTC. New shorts in the registry. A SHORT of 100BTC at 40× opened at midnight at $81,423–81,450, liquidation at $84,541. Another address — SHORT 150BTC at 5× from $82,894, uPnL +$178k: it has no trades over the day, so the position is older — it only entered the registry today. The largest ether long at 13× — ETH LONG $97.1M from $2,646, uPnL −$9.5M, liquidation at $2,291 — 4.9% under the market. The largest short house — was closing ether short, but not at the low. Over the day the house's second address bought back 8,180 ETH at $2,402–2,436 — −$355k realised — and added 48BTC of short; the first — 1,449 ETH at $2,400–2,437, −$158k. Together the house cut its ether short by about 9,600 ETH. The market's biggest loss.BTC SHORT $226.3M, leverage 5×, entry $76,205, uPnL −$15.2M, liquidation at $149,257 (+83%). In ETH the same address — SHORT $256.4M from $2,323, uPnL −$9.4M. The second address of the same handwriting.BTC SHORT $207.0M from $77,822, uPnL −$9.8M; ETH SHORT $190.8M from $2,375, uPnL −$2.8M. Together the two addresses carry $37.3M of unrealised loss; at the 04:16 snapshot, the point yesterday's figure came from, — $40.0M against $39.6M. Their $434M at 04:16 make up 58% of the registry's bitcoin short side against 59% yesterday. The market's biggest gain — ETH LONG $73.0M at 20× from $2,134, uPnL +$8.4M.

🔬Who exactly
Both of the biggest shorts are Abraxas Capital Mgmt (Heka Funds): over the day the house bought back about 9,600 ETH of short at $2,400–2,437 and added 48BTC; the unrealised loss across BTC and ETH is $37.3M.
Machi Big Brother — the same 25× address that was partly liquidated on the night of 15 October: on Saturday at 21:32–21:38 UTC the exchange closed its whole ether long by force.
The 30× bitcoin short is an address with the Arkham label Fasanara Capital: between the 04:16 snapshots — 311BTC against 319, in ether 16,762 ETH against 16,778, almost no change.
The day's account, the short from Friday's low and the short on the edge carry no public labels; the 40× short that left has none either.
Money by address. Over seven days, among the largest bitcoin deposits — three from Binance, $3.7–5.0M each; among the largest withdrawals — to addresses labelled Wintermute, $2.9–3.3M each.
🔒THE WEEK'S DYNAMICS 🔬
Perps on a constant set of addresses. Over 7 days on 118 addresses: BTC — $45M into the short, ETH — $116M into the long; yesterday on 123 addresses — $97M into the short and $77M into the long. The weekly window has shifted by a day, so we don't treat the difference from yesterday as the day's move — the daily shift is counted separately, above.
Gamma flip.BTC across the whole book $80,485 against $80,441 yesterday — spot 1.4% above it (what the flip is). On the near expiries up to 30 days the flip sits right at the market, $81,432–81,843: price is walking along the line where dealers switch from damping a move to amplifying it. ETH across the whole book $2,357 against $2,405 — spot 2.2% above; on the near expiries — $2,436–2,440, above the market: price stands under the near flip, in the zone where dealers amplify a move.
The price of fear. On the weekly window the premium is +2.6 (IV37.9 against the actual weekly HV35.3) against +2.2 yesterday.
🔒CROSS-CHECK IN DETAIL 💠
BTC levels. Everything below comes from the Deribit options book unless stated otherwise. Fuel. At the 04:16 UTC snapshot, under BTC within 5% of the market ($77,766–81,859) there are $115.0M of long positions against $151.3M yesterday: $111.0M of that is the day's account; without it about $4M sits under the market. Above the market within 5% — $60.6M of shorts against $31.1M; the nearest line is the short on the edge, 0.5% from the price at the time. In ETH the long fuel has burnt out: $3.5M of longs under the market against $20.5M. Above the market — no shorts at all against $35.2M: yesterday's largest short closed on its own, in the black. This is about the RANGE of a move for the same push, not about a higher probability of that move (what the fuel map is).
Gamma vacuum. In BTC there are no empty zones above the market; below it $76,000–$77,000 is empty; in ETH — $2,250–$2,300 under the market.
Stress test ±2%. In bitcoin a 2% fall ($79,984) takes price under the whole-book gamma flip — into the zone where dealers amplify a move — and past the day's account's liquidation line; above, +2% ($83,248) is still under the $90,000 call wall across the whole book. In ether −2% ($2,361) lands under the $2,400 put wall across the whole book, almost on the gamma flip.

Day to day we compare only the two-day tenor: yesterday BTC P26, ETH P34 — near-term insurance in ether got dearer the most over the day. 💎SCENARIOS IN DETAIL 💠
The code's verdicts. From 16.10: the corridor is confirmed — price stayed within $80,350–83,600 100% of the time, ending at $81,685; the slide isn't confirmed — a low of $80,841 against the $80,350 level; the squeeze up isn't confirmed — a high of $82,397 against the $83,600 level. The code counts hourly spot closes; within the scenario window the 15-minute candles of the Hyperliquid perp reached about $82,900 up on 16.10 and $80,766 down on Saturday evening — also inside the corridor. The scenarios from 17.10 close tomorrow at 05:45 UTC.
The all-time tally (N counts only those that reached a verdict): squeeze up through the short fuel — 17 of 39, 18 more cancelled at their level; corridor — 24 of 48 plus 13 partial, 5 more cancelled; slide into the long fuel — 16 of 31, 15 more cancelled. The directional types are still no better than a coin toss.
The corridor holds — 50%. ⏱ 2 days, to 20.10. BTC stays within the near 2% of the market: $80,000–$83,250. Cancellation level: a touch of $77,550 — the lower edge of the five-percent zone.
Slide into the long fuel — 25%. ⏱ 2 days, to 20.10. Trigger: a touch of $80,000 — a break below the near 2%, past the day's account's liquidation line, where almost all of the long fuel under the market sits. Cancellation level: a touch of $83,250.
Squeeze up through the short fuel — 25%. ⏱ 2 days, to 20.10. Trigger: a touch of $83,250 — a break above the near 2%, through about $18M of short liquidation lines between the market and the trigger. Cancellation level: a touch of $80,000.
This is how we weigh the odds — not a promise; the code will compute the verdict from spot history.

📅PUBLIC LEDGER
(computed by code at the settlement price)
The market-maker corridor. Across 448 expiries since February the market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry held the settlement price 364 times — 81%. On Saturday it held both settlements, for the second day running. Decision: we lean on the corridor knowing that roughly one expiry in five it doesn't hold.
Max pain. A match with the settlement in 165 of those same 448 expiries, 37%; on Saturday — both, after two days without a single one. Decision: we don't chase max pain — one good day doesn't change the share across the whole ledger.
The walls. The call wall held the settlement in 79 of 157 expiries where price reached it — 50%; the put wall in 46 of 111, 41%. On Saturday price reached neither wall. Decision: we don't publish a wall without an expiry and a contract count, nor its percentage without a base.
Whale structures. The registry: 884 closed cases (5 of them from Bybit); across the 877 with a score, −$18.93M in total for the whales. Decision: win rate isn't money, and we don't copy whale structures — we track where they stand.
Polygon. Pendulum +$7,497 since 11.05 with −$538 on the day — both numbers from one series, the live curve of the best of four versions. Decision: we publish the tally daily with the same denominator and with the version's name.
