2.6% bounce, exchange cuts the whale's short · 04.11.2026

Case No. 20261104 · 04.11.2026

Yesterday's fall looked like a continuation and broke overnight: bitcoin bounced 2.6% off the night's lowand the exchange is again force-closing the whale we track, this time on its short.

Case No. 20261104 · 04.11.2026 05:53 UTC · BTC $77,644 / ETH $2,293 · analysis: Sonnet 5.5 by Anthropic

📅YESTERDAY

The daily expiry 03.11 settled at 08:00 UTC: bitcoin at $76,732, ether at $2,254. By the levels fixed a day before the expiry, both coins stayed inside the market-maker corridor (bitcoin $76,500–79,500, ether $2,180–2,340). Max pain (by the registry's record, Deribit) in ether ($2,260) matched: the settlement came 0.3% lower; in bitcoin ($78,000) it did not: the settlement was 1.7% lower. Case No. 1228 — a bitcoin condor opened on 02.11 on a corridor lying above the later settlement — the registry has closed: for the whale that is about −$65k by our estimate of the legs.
Of the positions yesterday's radar put on its watch list: the biggest bitcoin long line never reached liquidation — the account exited the long itself when the price came down almost to its line; the ether long line stayed but moved closer to the price: the account cut its long and its liquidation price moved higher; and bitcoin spot went back above the whole-book gamma flip during the day on 03.11, dropped under it again overnight (low $75,687) and now sits above it.

⚡THE GIST

• Since yesterday's morning snapshot bitcoin is up 1.2%, ether 1.9%, but the road wasn't straight: between the snapshots (05:35 UTC yesterday and 05:53 today) bitcoin on the Hyperliquid perp travelled a range of 3.2% against 2.4% a day earlier — a night low and a quick bounce toward morning. Spot sits above the gamma flip — in the zone where market-makers' hedging dampens a move instead of amplifying it. The snapshot prices ($77,644 / $2,293) were taken a little before the 05:53 stamp: by 05:52 the bitcoin perp on Hyperliquid had reached $78,031 — a bounce of 3.1% from the low up to that moment.
• The whale we've tracked since 26.10 fully closed its short three times overnight at a profit while the price fell, each time opening a new one lower; when the price turned up, the exchange began force-closing its short in parts: four steps up to the morning snapshot, two more after it. The day before yesterday the exchange likewise took part of its long: over two days it has been force-closed on both sides.
• The account that was the biggest bitcoin long line exited the long itself, briefly reversed into a short and closed it at a loss; the biggest long, opened earlier (it entered our sample on 02.11), was cut almost entirely — with a large realised loss. On the constant set of addresses (133 addresses in both snapshots, 03.11 and 04.11 at 05:16 UTC; dollars at the Hyperliquid snapshot marks, $77,313 and $2,280) bitcoin longs shrank by 469 BTC and shorts by 65: the tilt moved toward short by about $31.2M; in ether longs grew by 24,928 ETH and shorts by 3,068: about $49.8M toward long.
• Fuel within 2% lies above the price again: in bitcoin above it sit $20.5M of shorts across six positions, and under it only $3.0M of longs; yesterday it was the other way round — $19.9M of longs under the price. In ether there is nothing within 2%.
• Verdict — break ⚡: yesterday's continuation down didn't happen — the price went back above the gamma flip and is taking out the shorts that stood nearest. But by the registry the bitcoin short has become four times the long (4.1× against 3.0×), because the whales cut their longs. The funds are pulling money out in both coins — on the whales' side; the crowd on Bybit stands opposite (67.7% of bitcoin accounts long); options, futures and stress are silent.
• 📊 Our Polygon — Pendulum: the best of four versions, +$317 on the day, +$5,730 in total since 11.05.
• 📊 Our Polygon — signals: best — Dust Strategy V2 +$74,969 at a 4% win rate · worst — Wheel Trail V8 −$10,525. Table at the bottom.

⚖️VERDICT OF THE DAY

break ⚡ — yesterday's continuation down didn't happen: after the night's low the price went back above the gamma flip and is taking out the shorts that stood nearest, among them the short of the whale the exchange is closing step by step. But by the registry the bitcoin short has become four times the long, because the whales cut longs rather than adding shorts. The witnesses: the funds in both coins side with the whales; the crowd stands against; options, futures and stress are silent.
What this does NOT mean. A bounce of 2.6% off the night's low is not proof that the fall is over: the registry short stays much larger than the long, and the gamma flip has come down over the week. Fuel above the price is about how far a move can carry for the same push, not about a new squeeze being more likely.

📅PUBLIC LEDGER

(computed by code at the settlement price)
The market-maker corridor. Across 482 expiries since February the market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry held the settlement price 396 times — 82%; both expiries of 03.11 the registry has already recorded — both inside the corridor. Decision: we lean on the corridor knowing that roughly one expiry in five it doesn't hold.
Max pain. A match with the settlement (deviation under 1%) in 180 of those same 482 expiries, 37%; on 03.11 it matched in ether, in bitcoin it did not (the settlement 1.7% lower). Decision: we don't chase max pain.
The walls. The call wall held the settlement in 82 of 162 expiries where price reached it — 51%; the put wall in 50 of 119, 42%. Decision: we don't publish a wall without an expiry and a contract count, nor its percentage without a base.
Whale structures. The registry: 946 closed cases (5 of them from Bybit); across the 937 with a score, −$16.58M in total for the whales, yesterday it was 936 and −$16.52M: the closed case No. 1228 added about −$65k. 140 open against 137 yesterday. Decision: win rate isn't money, and we don't copy whale structures — we track where they stand.
Polygon. Pendulum +$5,730 since 11.05 with +$317 on the day — both numbers from one series, the live curve of the best of four versions. Decision: we publish the tally daily with the same denominator and with the version's name, on a losing day too.

📏Scale calibrator

• What protection costs. Our fear-and-greed index — 47 out of 100 against 45 yesterday. We compute it from the price of volatility and the option skew on Deribit, not from news, which is why it diverges from the well-known index.
• Cheap or expensive for this market itself. BTC two-day vol — 62nd percentile of the hourly history since February, nine-day — 48th, 23 days out — 36th: the nearest insurance is a little dearer than average, but further along the curve it is cheaper.
• Which way protection tilts. BTC skew +5.7: puts dearer than calls, more than yesterday (+4.3). Terms: indiciadesk.com/en/glossary/
