Case No. 20261019 · 19.10.2026

For the third day running the day's account got out near the lowon Sunday it sold its whole bitcoin long, bitcoin bounced 2.7% overnight, and without that long the whales' bitcoin short is now 4.2 times the long.

Case No. 20261019 · 19.10.2026 04:39 UTC · BTC $82,403 / ETH $2,418 · analysis: Fable 5.1 by Anthropic

📅YESTERDAY

Sunday's expiry settled at 08:00 UTC: BTC $81,583, ETH $2,406. The max pain fixed a day before expiry — $81,500 and $2,420 — matched both settlements for the second day running: in bitcoin the settlement came off it by 0.1% above, in ether by 0.6% below. The market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry — $80,500–82,500 and $2,380–2,480 — held both, for the third day running.
No cases resolved over the day; the closed tally stands at 884, as yesterday; this morning five new cases entered the registry, all in bitcoin.

⚡THE GIST

• Since yesterday's morning snapshot bitcoin is up 1.0% and ether 0.4% — but between the snapshots came Sunday: on the Hyperliquid perp bitcoin slid 2.0% from the day's high to $80,644 by 20:15 UTC, ether to $2,327; overnight both were bought back, bitcoin reaching $82,782 at 02:45 UTC.
• The day's account — the same one that lifted the whales' long share on Thursday — sold its entire bitcoin long on Sunday in two waves, near the day's low, at a loss, with no forced closure. That is its third exit near the bottom in three days: on Friday it sold longs at the low, on Saturday its ether long was closed by force.
• Bitcoin: the whales' long share across the registry is 19.2% against 23.7% yesterday; the short is 4.2 times the long against 3.2 — almost all of the shift came from that one exit. The whales we also saw yesterday moved toward long, but that is one address that flipped from short to long; the rest barely moved.
• Ether: the short that closed in the black at Saturday's low was selling into Sunday's dip again; it bought most of it back near the bottom in the black and the rest on the bounce at a loss, and ended the day in the red.
• Verdict — continuation ⟳: the whales stand short, in bitcoin 4.2 times the long; the tilt grew not from new shorts but because the registry's largest long left on its own.
• 📊 Our Polygon — Pendulum: the best of four versions, −$456 on the day, +$7,041 in total since 11.05.
• 📊 Our Polygon — signals: best — Dust Strategy V2 +$77,219 at a 4% win rate · worst — Wheel Trail V8 −$10,812. Table at the bottom.

🐋WHALES: WHAT CHANGED — three arenas

Arena one — Hyperliquid futures. We measure the day's change in coins between the 04:16 UTC snapshots — on the constant set and on all addresses of both snapshots (how we track whale positions).
In BTC on the constant set — 128 addresses — the short tilt narrowed by about $70M. Almost all of that is one address that flipped from short to long; without it the rest of the set barely moved, about $4M toward short. Across all addresses it's the opposite, about $32M toward short: the day's account's long — the largest bitcoin long in the registry — left it, and the account sold it on its own.
In ETH on the constant set the tilt moved about $10M toward long. Across all addresses — about $14M toward short: the short opened on Friday at the low is back in the registry, now with a new position.
Across the registry — among positions with a liquidation price — the totals at the 04:16 UTC snapshot: BTC long $169.8M against a short of $714.1M, ETH $285.7M against $647.5M. The whales' long share in ETH is 30.6% against 31.1% yesterday.
Overleveraged whales number 63 against 58 yesterday, $1,006M of positions together against $905M; the longs among them are 54% against 58%. Among the addresses we track there were no forced closures over the day; yesterday there were three.

Arena two — Deribit options. The block tape has come alive: over Sunday and Monday morning 25 structures were recognised in bitcoin and 8 in ether — against 4 and 5 in yesterday's weekend window. Today's Monday expiry is small; the next heavy one is Friday 23.10.
The largest structure of the day came this morning at 04:01 UTC in bitcoin: calls bought for a rise into November, paid for by selling a distant ceiling in March. On Sunday's slide the tape split: some bought protection against a deeper fall, others — right at the bottom — call spreads for a rise.
Quiet accumulation outside the blocks over the week (what a block is) is unchanged in shape: in bitcoin puts near the market and calls above it; in ether the most was added in calls above the market, mostly for 30.10.

Arena three — money at the exchange border. The snapshot is fresh — up to 04:31 UTC today.
Over seven days $62.8M was brought into the exchange and $25.0M taken out: $37.8M more arrived than left, against $15.8M yesterday. Almost all of that jump is the weekly window shifting: in the day since yesterday's radar little crossed the border — $1.5M in, $3.6M out.
In the weekly window $12.8M more bitcoin arrived than left — mostly from exchanges; USDC cash — $8.4M more; ZEC — $9.8M more.

This is positioning, not a direction forecast.

🧭CROSS-CHECK — five camps of witnesses

What the funds are doing. Spot ETFs are the only camp that measures purchases of the coin itself, not a leveraged position.
There are no fresh figures: the SoSoValue data source hasn't answered since 09.10, the latest are for Thursday 08.10.
This camp is silent: no data.

What the options market says. This camp measures one thing: what insurance costs on the Deribit book.
BTC skew is +3.1 against +2.9 yesterday — puts dearer than calls, and the tilt steepens for a third day running (what skew is). In ETH it's the reverse: +2.1 against +2.7.
BTC two-day vol sits in the 31st percentile since February against the 21st yesterday; ETH — in the 51st against the 37th (what implied vol is).
Our fear-and-greed index stands at 54 out of 100 against 60 yesterday — it has moved out of the greed zone into neutral.
This camp is silent: protection against a fall in bitcoin gets dearer for a third day, in ether it got cheaper over the day — two markets don't add up to one direction.

What the futures say. This camp measures who pays whom to hold a position.
BTC funding on Hyperliquid is +0.005% in eight-hour terms against +0.003% yesterday; on Binance +0.010% against +0.009% (what funding is). In ETH +0.010% on both against +0.007% and +0.005%.
This camp is silent: funding sits at or below its usual base level — neither longs nor shorts are overpaying.

What the crowd is doing. This camp measures how retail accounts stand against the whales.
On Bybit perps at 04:15 UTC, the time of the whale snapshot, 62.9% of BTC accounts stand long, as yesterday; in ETH 72.6% against 72.0%. The whales' long share in bitcoin over the same day — 19.2% against 23.7%.
This confirms the whales: the crowd didn't move, while the gap between it and the whales in bitcoin widened by 4.5 points over the day — to 43.7.

Any signs of stress. This camp measures whether anyone has already been forced out of the market.
On OKX swaps $693k was liquidated over the day, 88% of it longs, against $544k yesterday; that is 10% of the week's liquidations. Among the Hyperliquid addresses we track — no forced closures against three yesterday.
This camp is silent: liquidations sit at background level — Sunday's slide ran without a cascade, and the day's account's exit was a sale, not a forced one.

Again: this is positioning, not a direction forecast.

🌡ALTSEASON — the classic and our barometer

The classic altseason index is 46.2 out of 100 on a list of 197 alts against 50.0 on a list of 202 yesterday — the lists differ, so the comparison is rough. This is the transition zone: altseason starts at 75, bitcoin season sits below 25.
Our barometer watches money, not prices: open interest, funding and retail come from Bybit perps, the whales from the Hyperliquid registry. Alts' share of open interest is 41.1% — $4.66B of $11.33B, against 40.3% yesterday.
Alt contracts with funding hotter than bitcoin's on Bybit make up 34.9% of open interest against 35.3% yesterday.
Retail in the top-10 coins stands 73.7% long, as yesterday.
Whales in alts are structurally short: 28.3% long across $1.17B of positions, the largest of them HYPE. That gap itself is permanent, the signal is in its CHANGE — over the day the whales' long share rose by 0.4 points.

⚖️VERDICT OF THE DAY

continuation ⟳ — the whales stand short, in bitcoin 4.2 times the long; the tilt grew because the registry's largest long left on its own at Sunday's low, not because of new shorts. The witnesses: the funds have no data; the crowd confirms the whales; options, futures and stress are silent.
What this does NOT mean. It isn't a forecast of a fall: overnight bitcoin bounced 2.7%, and within 5% above the market there are now $116M of short liquidation lines against $20M of long ones below it — the same push upward would catch more forced closures than one downward. One account's exit at the low is the story of its leverage, not of the market's direction.

🔒WHALES IN DETAIL 💠

Portraits from the Hyperliquid registry, snapshot 04:16 UTC; the day's change is measured between the 04:16 snapshots, in coins; the moves of individual addresses come from the trade records. Nicknames aren't treated as identification.

The day's account — out of bitcoin on its own. Yesterday at 16:17–17:01 UTC the address sold 486 BTC of its long at $80,983–81,210, and at 19:30–21:12 another 870 BTC at $80,708–80,990: 1,356 BTC in all, −$1.31M of realised loss. The trades show no sign of a forced closure; its liquidation line was $80,037, the perp's low $80,644 at 20:15 UTC — inside the second wave itself. This morning it holds no positions, with $2.74M in USDC on the account. Three exits in three days: Friday −$2.35M, Saturday −$418k in ether by force, Sunday −$1.31M — −$4.08M together.
The short on the edge — this time both turns went in its favour. Yesterday at 18:38–21:54 UTC the address bought back a short of 209 BTC at $81,024–81,157, +$11k; at 22:01, at the start of the bounce, it opened a long of 203 BTC at $81,470–81,523 and closed it at 23:21–00:26 at $81,800–82,187, +$96k; at 00:45 it went short again — 213 BTC at $82,334–82,402. This morning SHORT $17.6M at 40×, liquidation at $83,711 — 1.6% above the market.
The flipper into long. The address that held a SHORT of 400 BTC yesterday is now LONG 500 BTC ($41.2M) at 25× from $82,327, liquidation at $72,641 — 11.8% under the market. The address's public history shows no bitcoin trades since 17.10, so we haven't pinned down the moment of the flip. On the same address — ETH LONG 10,000 ETH and shorts in SOL, XRP, HYPE and ZEC: this is a "bitcoin and ether against the alts" position, not a pure direction.
The 40× short — doubled. Since yesterday morning the address added 300 BTC of short at $81,700–82,531, part of it already on the overnight bounce: SHORT 500 BTC ($41.2M) from $82,003, liquidation at $85,376 — 3.6% above the market.
The ether short from Friday's low — in the red this time. Yesterday at 16:16–20:37 UTC the address sold 44,000 ETH of short at $2,330–2,371, into the dip; at 18:55–19:47, near the bottom, it bought back 29,000 ETH at $2,329–2,367, +$309k; on the bounce at 23:27–02:50 — another 6,500 ETH at $2,411–2,436, −$574k; −$264k on the day in all. With Saturday's +$398k, that is +$134k over two days. This morning SHORT 8,500 ETH ($20.6M) at 25×, liquidation at $2,470 — 2.1% above the market.
The 25× ether long — sat through the slide. The address that had its whole long closed by force on Saturday sold 1,045 ETH on its own yesterday at 13:33–19:57 UTC at $2,327–2,386 (−$43k) and bought 1,665 ETH at $2,386–2,434 over the day. This morning LONG $5.0M, liquidation at $2,382 — 1.5% under the market.
The largest ether long at 10× — ETH LONG $102.9M from $2,634, uPnL −$9.1M, liquidation at $2,216 — 8.4% under the market; +2,223 ETH over the day.
The largest short house — cutting. Between the 04:16 snapshots the house's first address cut its bitcoin short by 185 BTC, the second by 193 BTC and by 8,354 ETH. The market's biggest loss: BTC SHORT $213.1M, 5×, entry $76,205, uPnL −$16.1M; the second address — BTC SHORT $192.9M from $77,822, uPnL −$10.8M. Together with their ether shorts the two addresses carry $40.6M of unrealised loss against $40.0M yesterday at the same snapshot time; their $406M make up 57% of the registry's bitcoin short side against 58%.
The market's biggest gain — ETH LONG $73.3M at 20× from $2,134, uPnL +$8.7M.

🔬Who exactly

Both of the biggest shorts are Abraxas Capital Mgmt (Heka Funds): over the day the house cut its bitcoin short by about 378 BTC and its ether short by about 8,350 ETH; the unrealised loss across BTC and ETH is $40.6M.
The 25× ether short from $2,535 is an address with the Arkham label Fasanara Capital: SHORT $40.6M, uPnL +$1.9M.
The day's account, the short on the edge, the flipper into long, the doubled 40× short and the ether short from Friday's low carry no public labels.
Money by address. Over seven days, among the largest bitcoin deposits — six from Binance, $2.8–5.0M each; the largest withdrawal — 33.8 BTC to an address labelled Wintermute, $2.8M. Overnight $0.4M of USDC each went to OKX and Binance deposit addresses.

🔒THE WEEK'S DYNAMICS 🔬

Perps on a constant set of addresses. Over 7 days on 122 addresses: BTC — $2M into the long, ETH — $85M into the long; yesterday on 118 addresses — $45M into the short and $116M into the long. The weekly window has shifted by a day, so we don't treat the difference from yesterday as the day's move — the daily shift is counted separately, above.
Gamma flip. BTC across the whole book $80,145 against $80,485 yesterday — spot 2.8% above it (what the flip is). On the near expiries up to 30 days the flip sits at $81,656–82,201, and spot is already above it: price has moved back into the zone where dealers damp a move — yesterday it stood right on the line. ETH across the whole book $2,343 against $2,357 — spot 3.2% above; on the near expiries — $2,441–2,448, above the market: ether still stands under the near flip, in the zone where dealers amplify a move.
The price of fear. On the weekly window the premium is +4.6 (IV 38.8 against the actual weekly HV 34.2) against +2.6 yesterday.

🔒CROSS-CHECK IN DETAIL 💠

BTC levels. Everything below comes from the Deribit options book unless stated otherwise. Today's Monday expiry 19.10: max pain $82,000 across the combined book, on Deribit and on Bybit (what max pain is); put $80,000 (221 contracts), call $84,000 (452) (what the walls are). 30.10: max pain $79,000 across the combined book, $82,000 on Bybit; put wall $70,000 (4,143), call wall $95,000 (25,569). The market-maker corridor for today — $80,500–83,000.
ETH levels. 19.10: max pain $2,430 across the combined book, $2,440 on Deribit, $2,410 on Bybit; put $2,300 (4,328), call $2,480 (5,387). 30.10: max pain $2,500, put wall $2,300 (22,754), call wall $2,600 (38,042). The market-maker corridor — $2,380–2,480.
Fuel. At the 04:16 UTC snapshot, under BTC within 5% of the market ($78,328–82,450) there are $20.2M of long positions against $115.0M yesterday: yesterday's $111M of the day's account have left the market. Above the market within 5% — $116.1M of shorts against $60.6M; the nearest line is $83,237, 1.0% from the price at the time, then two more lines up to $83,500 and the short on the edge — $83,711. Between the market and +2% — $40.4M of short lines; between the market and −2% there are no long lines at all. In ETH $5.0M of longs under the market against $3.5M; above it — $20.6M of shorts against none yesterday: that is the new short of the account from Friday's low. This is about the RANGE of a move for the same push, not about a higher probability of that move (what the fuel map is).
Gamma vacuum. In BTC there are no empty zones above the market; below it $76,000–$77,000 is empty; in ETH — $2,250–$2,300 under the market.
Stress test ±2%. In bitcoin a 2% fall ($80,755) leaves price above the whole-book gamma flip but under the near flips; above, +2% ($84,050) is still under the $90,000 call wall across the whole book. In ether −2% ($2,370) is above the whole-book flip at $2,343, but still under the near flips at $2,441–2,448.
OI flow. BTC put/call across all expiries: month 0.56 · week 0.58 · now 0.60. ETH 0.52 · 0.56 · 0.51 (what put/call is).
Two options books. On the same expiries up to 30 days BTC put/call is 0.59 on Deribit against 1.34 on Bybit; ETH 0.87 and 0.83.
IV by tenor. BTC 2d P34/C30 · 4d P38/C31 · 39d P39/C36, percentiles since February — 31st, 24th and 40th. ETH 2d P52/C48 · 4d P52/C47 · 39d P52/C50, percentiles 51st, 39th and 35th. Day to day we compare only the two-day tenor: yesterday BTC P31, ETH P49. ETH DVOL 52.9 against 30-day realised HV 46.4 — a premium of +6.5 against +8.0 yesterday; BTC DVOL 38.8 against HV 32.4 — +6.4 (what the premium is).

💎SCENARIOS IN DETAIL 💠

The code's verdicts. No new verdicts today: the scenarios from 17.10 close today at 05:45 UTC, those from 18.10 tomorrow at 06:51 UTC; both verdicts come in tomorrow's radar. The code counts hourly spot closes; since yesterday morning the 15-minute candles of the Hyperliquid perp have stayed within $80,644–82,782.
The all-time tally (N counts only those that reached a verdict): squeeze up through the short fuel — 17 of 39, 18 more cancelled at their level; corridor — 24 of 48 plus 13 partial, 5 more cancelled; slide into the long fuel — 16 of 31, 15 more cancelled. The directional types are still no better than a coin toss.
The corridor holds — 50%. ⏱ 2 days, to 21.10. BTC stays within the near 2% of the market: $80,750–$84,050. Cancellation level: a touch of $78,300 — the lower edge of the five-percent zone.
Squeeze up through the short fuel — 25%. ⏱ 2 days, to 21.10. Trigger: a touch of $84,050 — a break above the near 2%, through about $40M of short liquidation lines between the market and the trigger. Cancellation level: a touch of $80,750.
Slide into the long fuel — 25%. ⏱ 2 days, to 21.10. Trigger: a touch of $80,750 — a break below the near 2%. There is little long fuel under the market now, $20M within 5%: a slide would be a move without forced selling along the way. Cancellation level: a touch of $84,050.
This is how we weigh the odds — not a promise; the code will compute the verdict from spot history.

🔭WHAT TO WATCH

• The shorts above bitcoin: the nearest liquidation line at $83,237, 1.0% above the market, then two more up to $83,500 and the short on the edge — $83,711; between the market and +2% — about $40M of short lines (💠).
• Ether: the new short of the account from Friday's low — its line at $2,470, 2.1% above the market (💠).
• Bitcoin's gamma flip on the near expiries — $81,656–82,201, price above it; across the whole book — $80,145 (🔬).

📅PUBLIC LEDGER

(computed by code at the settlement price)
The market-maker corridor. Across 450 expiries since February the market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry held the settlement price 366 times — 81%. On Sunday it held both settlements, for the third day running. Decision: we lean on the corridor knowing that roughly one expiry in five it doesn't hold.
Max pain. A match with the settlement in 167 of those same 450 expiries, 37%; on Sunday — both, for the second day running. Decision: we don't chase max pain — two good days don't change the share across the whole ledger.
The walls. The call wall held the settlement in 79 of 158 expiries where price reached it — 50%; the put wall in 48 of 113, 42%. On Sunday bitcoin's call wall was broken, both put walls held. Decision: we don't publish a wall without an expiry and a contract count, nor its percentage without a base.
Whale structures. The registry: 884 closed cases (5 of them from Bybit); across the 877 with a score, −$18.93M in total for the whales. Decision: win rate isn't money, and we don't copy whale structures — we track where they stand.
Polygon. Pendulum +$7,041 since 11.05 with −$456 on the day — both numbers from one series, the live curve of the best of four versions. Decision: we publish the tally daily with the same denominator and with the version's name.

📏Scale calibrator

• What protection costs. Our fear-and-greed index — 54 out of 100 against 60 yesterday. We compute it from the price of volatility and the option skew on Deribit, not from news, which is why it diverges from the well-known index.
• Cheap or expensive for this market itself. BTC two-day vol — 31st percentile of the hourly history since February, four-day — 24th, 39 days out — 40th: insurance is cheaper than usual on every tenor.
• Which way protection tilts. BTC skew +3.1: puts dearer than calls, and more so than yesterday's +2.9. Terms: indiciadesk.com/en/glossary/
