BTC $75,942 +0.5%ETH $2,247 +1.1%

Why is Bitcoin flat today, November 7, 2026: possible reasons

Bitcoin barely moved in the 24 hours to 05:53 UTC: up 0.5%, to $75,942. Along the way it dipped to $74,752 and climbed to $76,294, by Deribit data. ETH added 1.1% over the same day, to $2,247, between a low of $2,206 and a high of $2,252.

BTC price over the day: from $75,590 to $75,942, high $76,294, low $74,752
BTC price on Deribit over the day to 05:53 UTC. The marks show when things happened; happening at the same time does not prove a cause.

The sharpest move came between 07:30 and 09:30 UTC, when BTC rose from $75,272 to $76,042, a 1.0% climb. At 13:30 UTC the US jobs report landed, with economists expecting 65,000 new jobs after 29,000 last time. In the hour after it BTC slid from $75,962 to $75,549, down 0.5%.

At 14:30 UTC, when US stocks opened, the price barely moved in the next hour: $75,550 to $75,548. At 15:00 UTC the University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading came out, with economists expecting 48.1 after 46.3. BTC rose from $75,456 to $75,786 in the hour after it, up 0.4%, and timing alone does not prove a cause.

There are several possible explanations, and none is proven. The versions: US stocks stood still too, headlines covered the Binance hack and a Korean crash, jobs beat expectations, and BTC funds took money out.

One version: US stocks stood still too

Over the same day S&P 500 futures added 0.3% and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.5%, by Yahoo Finance data. The dollar index DXY rose 0.5%. BTC moved 0.5% in that time, so it sat in the same narrow band as stocks.

Moving together does not prove that one drags the other. There are days when Bitcoin goes its own way, and this one is a single day in a long series.

Another version: headlines on the Binance hack and a Korean crash

Over the day Cointelegraph reported on the Binance hack and said the hackers had been inside for eight weeks before the theft. The same outlet reported that Korea's KOSPI was halted after an 8% crash on fears of AI regulation. The Block reported that the US Treasury cut the exchange MEXC off from the US financial system.

A headline means the story was written about over the day, not that the event happened then. These stories coincided with the price in time without setting its direction: BTC still finished the day up 0.5%.

A third version: US jobs came in far above expectations

CoinDesk reported that the US economy added far more jobs in October than the 65,000 economists expected. The report landed at 13:30 UTC, and in the hour after it BTC slipped from $75,962 to $75,549.

A stronger report does not set a direction for Bitcoin. The hour's move was 0.5%, and by morning the price was back at $75,942, right where it had been a day earlier.

One more version: ETF funds were taking money out

BTC funds took out $1.1 billion between October 29 and November 4. An outflow that large over five days came in only 9% of five-day stretches since the funds launched. On November 4 alone the funds bought $74.6 million, so the last reported day was an inflow.

ETH funds took out $100.0 million on November 5 and $427.9 million over the five days to November 5. An outflow that size came in only 11% of five-day stretches since the ETH funds launched. Fund data for a day is published after the US close, so this is a picture of the previous days, not of this one.

An outflow is money taken out, not money lost. It coincides with a price that is not rising, but on its own it does not set a direction.

On Polymarket 76% of bets are on a 25 basis point hike and 22% on no change, with $16.5 million wagered on that market.

Polymarket shows what bettors back. Bets follow price rather than lead it.
