Case No. 20261102 · 02.11.2026
The whale we track flipped from long to short within a day, and the exchange has already force-closed part of that shortthe nearest bitcoin fuel now lies above the price, not under it.
Case No. 20261102 · 02.11.2026 05:53 UTC · BTC $78,272 / ETH $2,291 · analysis: Sonnet 5.5 by Anthropic
📅YESTERDAY
The daily expiry 01.11 settled at 08:00 UTC: bitcoin at $77,785, ether at $2,266. Our expiry registry has already recorded both: by the levels fixed a day before the expiry, both coins stayed inside the market-maker corridor (bitcoin $76,500–80,500, ether $2,200–2,320), and max pain matched in both by the registry's rule — a deviation under 1%: bitcoin settled 0.3% under $78,000, ether 0.3% above $2,260. The expiry closed no whale cases.
Of the positions yesterday's radar said to watch: the whale that got out of its long and came back in bigger closed that long on its own in the evening, in profit — price never reached its line — and a few minutes later opened a short; the account from our investigation added a quarter to its short; the whole-book gamma flip barely moved, and spot stays above it.
⚡THE GIST
• Since yesterday's morning snapshot bitcoin is up 0.6%, ether 1.0%. Between the morning snapshots (05:46 UTC) bitcoin on the Hyperliquid perp travelled a range of 1.6% against 0.9% the day before — wider, but far from the 3.3% of the day before that.
• The whale we've tracked since 26.10 closed its bitcoin long on its own in the evening, in profit, opened a bitcoin short a few minutes later and an ether short an hour after that, and at 03:25 UTC the exchange force-closed part of that short. By the trades available to us, that is the only forced close in bitcoin and ether among big accounts over the day.
• On the constant set of addresses (131 addresses in both 05:16 UTC snapshots) the bitcoin tilt moved toward short by only about $5.7M: longs shrank by 160 BTC, mostly because of the whale's closed long, partly offset by other accounts adding, and shorts by 88 BTC. In ether the shift toward short is bigger — about $23.7M, because shorts grew by 8,953 ETH. Across all addresses of both snapshots bitcoin comes out about $52.8M toward long: a big long entered the sample, one with no trades over the day.
• The fuel within 2% has split to opposite sides. In bitcoin it lies above the price — $31.9M of shorts across four positions, and only $0.1M under the price; yesterday it was the other way round: the long fuel sat under the price, in a single position. In ether — under the price $23.2M of longs across two positions, and nothing above it.
• Verdict — continuation ⟳. The whales stay short: by the registry the short is 3.2 times the long in bitcoin and twice in ether. The funds gave no new data; the crowd on Bybit stands long, as yesterday; options, futures and stress are silent.
• 📊 Our Polygon — Pendulum: the best of four versions, +$562 on the day, +$5,330 in total since 11.05.
• 📊 Our Polygon — signals: best — Dust Strategy V2 +$74,969 at a 4% win rate · worst — Wheel Trail V8 −$10,525. Table at the bottom.

⚖️VERDICT OF THE DAY
continuation ⟳ — the whales stay short: by the registry the short is 3.2 times the long in bitcoin and twice in ether, and on the constant set the day's shift is toward short in both coins; price is up 0.6% from yesterday's snapshot within a 1.6% range. The witnesses: the funds side with the whales (no new data); the crowd stands against; options, futures and stress are silent.
What this does NOT mean. The whale's flip into a short is not a signal of a fall: it is one account whose long has just ended in profit and whose new short the exchange has already partly closed. Fuel above the price is about how far a move can carry for the same push, not about it being more likely.

• at which strikes and for what premium the ether strangle was sold overnight.

📅PUBLIC LEDGER
(computed by code at the settlement price)
The market-maker corridor. Across 478 expiries since February the market-maker break-even corridor fixed a day before expiry held the settlement price 392 times — 82%; both expiries of 01.11 the registry has already recorded — both inside the corridor. Decision: we lean on the corridor knowing that roughly one expiry in five it doesn't hold.
Max pain. A match with the settlement (deviation under 1%) in 178 of those same 478 expiries, 37%; on 01.11 it matched in both coins, on 31.10 the settlement landed under the morning max pain in both. Decision: we don't chase max pain.
The walls. The call wall held the settlement in 80 of 160 expiries where price reached it — 50%; the put wall in 50 of 119, 42%. Decision: we don't publish a wall without an expiry and a contract count, nor its percentage without a base.
Whale structures. The registry: 945 closed cases (5 of them from Bybit); across the 936 with a score, −$16.52M in total for the whales, as yesterday: the daily expiry 01.11 closed no cases. Decision: win rate isn't money, and we don't copy whale structures — we track where they stand.
Polygon. Pendulum +$5,330 since 11.05 with +$562 on the day — both numbers from one series, the live curve of the best of four versions. Decision: we publish the tally daily with the same denominator and with the version's name, on a losing day too.
📏Scale calibrator
• What protection costs. Our fear-and-greed index — 37 out of 100 against 32 yesterday. We compute it from the price of volatility and the option skew on Deribit, not from news, which is why it diverges from the well-known index.
• Cheap or expensive for this market itself. BTC two-day vol — 70th percentile of the hourly history since February, four-day — 58th, 25 days out — 44th: the nearest insurance is noticeably dearer than yesterday, but further along the curve it stays in the middle of its usual range.
• Which way protection tilts. BTC skew +4.2: puts dearer than calls, but the tilt toward puts shrank from +4.7. Terms: indiciadesk.com/en/glossary/
